WHAT TEACHERS THINK ABOUT DIGITAL VIOLENCE IN THEIR STUDENTS’ PARTNER RELATIONSHIPS

TEACHERS’ ATTITUDES ON VIOLENCE

YOUNG PEOPLE LEARN ABOUT SEXUALITY THROUGH PORNOGRAPHY

Diverse research results indicate that it is through pornography that students often obtain their first information about sex

GIRLS ARE AS VIOLENT AS BOYS

Diverse research results indicate that girls are much more often victims of gender based violence, and that the perpetrators of violence against boys are often other boys.

A PERSON WHO IS EXPOSED TO VIOLENCE DURING AN EMOTIONAL RELATIONSHIP CAN EASILY LEAVE THIS RELATIONSHIP

There are many reasons why victims of violence do not speak out or seek help, while leaving a violent relationship is not always safe.

MALE AND FEMALE STUDENTS TRUST THE SCHOOL STAFF AND SEEK HELP IF THEY ARE BEING ABUSED IN THEIR EMOTIONAL RELATIONSHIP

Diverse research results indicate that male and female students seldom expect or seek help from their teachers or school staff.

IT IS SOMETIMES JUSTIFIED FOR A BOY TO SLAP HIS GIRLFRIEND.

DISAGREE
Customs, tradition, culture or religion can never be justification for violence.

UNCONSENSUAL SEX IS RAPE EVEN WHEN THE PERSON DID NOT RESIST.

AGREE
Freedom of decision and choice are also fundamental rights in the area of sexuality (except in case of intercourse between an adult and a child – which is forbidden).

Better multi-sector cooperation

The research “Attitudes and the response of secondary schools representatives to the phenomenon of abuse among young people in emotional relationships” was conducted by the Autonomous Women’s Center (AWC). An identical research was conducted in Hungary, Croatia and Spain, as part of the project “I can choose to say NO – empowering young people, girls notably, to counter digital sexual and gender based violence in intimate partner relationships”.

The research involved 209 teachers, professional associates and other school staff from 9 secondary schools from Prijepolje, Paraćin, Pančevo, Novi Sad and Belgrade with whom AWC cooperates in the realization of the Project (appropriate sample).
